Privacy

This policy explains what data Float Translate handles when providing the app, website, accounts, Pro access, support, updates, and related services.

Effective June 20, 2026

Data we process

  • Account information such as email address, display name, and login records.
  • Information needed to provide your Pro access, including a reference number, all_platform_pro plan, current status, device limit, and activation status.
  • Information used to recognize devices connected to your Pro access, including an identifier that does not directly reveal the original device information and the name you give the device.
  • Purchase information such as order details, purchase email, payment status, refund status, and dispute status.
  • The minimum logs and diagnostic information needed to investigate sign-in, Pro access, payment, activation, and support issues.
  • Card numbers, wallet details, bank account details, and other payment credentials are handled by the third-party service responsible for processing the transaction. Float Translate does not receive or store your full payment credentials.

How we use data

  • To let you sign in and manage your account.
  • To activate, verify, remove, or restore Pro access.
  • To use the payment records we receive for Pro activation, refunds, reversed or disputed payments, support, and abuse prevention.
  • To provide support and troubleshoot account, payment, and activation issues.
  • To detect misuse of payment, Pro access, and activation services.

How data is shared

  • With service providers that help us operate hosting, sign-in, payments, analytics, support, email, security, updates, Pro activation, and abuse prevention.
  • With translation, AI, or other integration providers that you choose to connect or use through the app.
  • When necessary to comply with the law, protect safety or rights, prevent fraud, or handle disputes.
  • If the product, project, or related assets are transferred or reorganized, subject to this policy or a replacement policy disclosed to users.

Analytics and usage data

We use Google Analytics and PostHog to understand how the product is used, whether it works reliably, and whether visits lead to downloads or sign-ups. Website analytics may include pages viewed, how you reached the site, general device or browser information, button and download clicks, and whether key registration or download steps were completed.

If analytics is enabled in the desktop app, the information collected may include, for example, when the app starts, daily use, pages and features used, whether an action succeeds, broad error categories, app and operating system versions, installation channel, and summary measurements of speed and reliability.

Analytics does not collect the text you submit, OCR text, translation results, screenshots, local file paths, window titles, API keys, access tokens, Pro activation keys, passwords, or full technical error details.

We do not currently use PostHog to automatically record all interactions, replay sessions, create heatmaps, or automatically measure website performance. If that changes, we will update this policy. You can disable analytics in the desktop app settings.

Update and security checks

The desktop app contacts our update service to check for new versions. It may also check about once per hour for security requirements, such as whether an update is required or can be installed automatically.

These checks use only the app version, operating system, installation source, and the type of updates the app should receive. They do not include a device identifier, account data, installed extensions, translation history, OCR content, screenshots, or local files.

Local content

Local translation history, favorites, OCR images, screenshot contents, and local settings are not collected as part of payment review or license activation.

If you choose to send logs, screenshots, or files to support, we use them only to handle the support request.

How long we keep data

We keep payment and Pro access records for as long as needed to operate the service, handle refunds and disputes, meet legal requirements, and prevent fraud.

Device identifiers are converted into a form that does not directly reveal the original device information. We use them only to activate Pro and manage the number of connected devices, not for advertising or tracking across products.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, object to, or restrict certain personal data, and to withdraw consent where processing depends on consent.

You can contact [email protected] to make a privacy request. We may need information that verifies the account or purchase record before acting on the request.

International processing

Service providers may process and store data in countries other than where you live. Where required, safeguards are used for international transfers.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect account, Pro access, payment, support, and diagnostic data.

No online service or local software environment is perfectly secure. Keep your account credentials, devices, provider API keys, and local files protected.

Children

Float Translate is not intended for anyone under 13, or under the minimum age required by law where they live. Contact [email protected] if you believe a child has provided personal data.

Privacy policy changes

This policy may be updated as the product, data handling, providers, or legal requirements change. The updated version will be posted here with the effective date.
