Add a Service
Extensions provide functionality. A service stores shared configuration for one extension, and the capability instances under that service are the operations Float Translate can use for translation, OCR, and other tasks.
Choose what to add
Section titled “Choose what to add”Float Translate includes a default translation service for first use. Add another translation service when you want a different provider, AI model, or custom configuration. Add an OCR or language detection service when you need those capabilities.
| Goal | Service type |
|---|---|
| Translate selected text or manual input | Translation service |
| Read text from screenshots or images | OCR service |
| Detect source language before translation | Language detection service |
Configure it
Section titled “Configure it”- Open the extension or service settings area in the app.
- Choose an extension that provides the service type you need.
- Enter the provider settings, credentials, or language options required by that extension.
- Use the extension’s test or preview action if it provides one.
- Save the service and use it from the relevant translation or OCR path.
Confirm it works
Section titled “Confirm it works”Run the smallest task that uses the service. For a translation service, translate one short selected sentence. For an OCR service, capture a small area with clear text.
If the service is skipped, unavailable, or returns no result, go to Troubleshooting overview.
