Configure Capabilities

A service can contain several capability instances. Open the service to manage each instance as a separate operation with its own name, status, and settings.

  1. Open Extensions.
  2. Open the service that owns the capability. If you do not have one yet, add a service first.
  3. Find the capability instance you want to use.

When a service has several instances of the same capability, use their names and settings to distinguish them.

  1. Turn on the switch at the right side of the capability row.
  2. Expand the row to see its settings.
  3. Complete the options required by that capability. A warning beside the row means required setup is incomplete; some capabilities do not require any options.
  4. Save the service.

An enabled and fully configured capability can be selected or invoked. Disabling it prevents selection and execution but keeps its configuration.

Service settings and capability settings have different roles. Credentials and other shared provider settings belong to the service. Options that change one operation belong to that capability instance.

Some capability groups provide an Add control. Use it to create an instance from an available template or duplicate an existing instance. The new instance has its own name and settings, so you can keep several configurations without changing the original.

If no Add control appears, that extension does not offer another creation choice for the group.

You can use an enabled, fully configured capability in two common ways.

Use the placement control in the capability row to pin it to compatible locations, such as the Capsule or supported areas of the translation panel. A translation capability can also be set to participate in translation there.

New choices are limited to compatible locations. The available choices depend on the capability’s input, output, and the target location.

Shortcuts and workflows do not use the capability row’s placement menu:

  • To trigger a capability with the keyboard, find its command under Shortcuts.
  • To use it as a step, select a capability that can accept the current input in the workflow editor.

Check these in order:

  1. The service still exists and its shared configuration is complete.
  2. The capability instance is enabled.
  3. Its required options are complete and the service has been saved.
  4. The target location or workflow step accepts the capability’s input and output.
