Automatic Translation
Automatic Translation removes the extra shortcut press. Float Translate can start translating as soon as you copy text or make a text selection.
- Use Copy to Translate when copying is already part of your workflow.
- Use Selection Instant Translation when every new selection should show a result automatically.
- Use Translate Selected Text when translation should start only after you press a shortcut.
Copy to Translate
Section titled “Copy to Translate”Copy to Translate watches for newly copied text and sends it to the current translation panel. It works well when you copy passages while reading or collect several pieces of text in sequence.
Enable Copy to Translate
Section titled “Enable Copy to Translate”- Open Settings → Translation.
- Turn on Copy to Translate.
- Copy text in another app.
Adjust what gets captured
Section titled “Adjust what gets captured”- Clipboard Max Length ignores clipboard text above the configured length, preventing a large copy from triggering translation unexpectedly.
- Incremental Translation appends newly captured text to the current input, which is useful when collecting several passages.
Selection Instant Translation
Section titled “Selection Instant Translation”Selection Instant Translation reads a text selection and starts translating it automatically. It works well for reading web pages, documents, or conversations without pressing a shortcut after every selection.
Enable Selection Instant Translation
Section titled “Enable Selection Instant Translation”- Open Settings → Translation and find Selection Instant Translation.
- Turn it on.
- Choose Translation Panel or Mini Translation Panel.
- Select text in another app.
Choose how results appear
Section titled “Choose how results appear”- Translation Panel: shows the result in the full panel. With Only trigger while the translation panel is visible enabled, selecting text does not reopen a hidden panel.
- Mini Translation Panel: opens a compact result after text is selected. The full-panel visibility restriction does not apply to this presentation.
Support more applications
Section titled “Support more applications”Some apps do not expose a readable text selection directly. Turn on Support more applications only when direct capture fails. Float Translate will try to obtain the selection through copy instead; some clipboard content may not be completely restored.
When nothing happens
Section titled “When nothing happens”- Copy to Translate: confirm that it is still enabled and that the copied text is within Clipboard Max Length. If it fails to start, turn it on again.
- Selection Instant Translation: confirm that the current app exposes a text selection and check any accessibility or input permissions requested by the operating system. If the setting reports that the feature is temporarily unavailable for the current app session, restart Float Translate or check system permissions.
- If results appear too often, restrict the full panel to times when it is already visible, or switch to shortcut-driven Translate Selected Text.
