Quick Start
Float Translate includes a default translation service for first use. You do not need to create a provider account or enter an API key before your first translation.
Complete your first translation
Section titled “Complete your first translation”- Complete the initial setup and assign a shortcut to Translate Selected Text.
- Select a word, sentence, or passage in another app.
- Press the Translate Selected Text shortcut.
- Confirm that the translation panel opens and starts translating the selected text.
- Review the result and copy the translation you want to use.
Three things to know next
Section titled “Three things to know next”- Capability — what runs. A capability is a concrete action, such as translating text, recognizing text with OCR, or running another text action. See Extensions, Services & Capabilities for the full model.
- Entry point — where you start it. A capability or workflow can be assigned to a shortcut or placed in a surface such as the floating capsule or translation panel.
- Preset workflow — a ready-made sequence. Float Translate includes preset workflows for common multi-step tasks, such as Input Field Translation. You can run a preset directly or use it as a starting point for your own workflow.
Choose your next path
Section titled “Choose your next path”- To learn the selection path in detail, see Translate Selected Text.
- To translate visible text that cannot be selected, use Screenshot Translation.
- To recognize, edit, or copy the original text from the screen, use Screenshot OCR.
- To use another provider, AI model, or custom configuration, add a service.
- If the first translation does not work, follow the troubleshooting guide.
